The University of Alabama

Enrolling approximately 24,000 students, UA has been a part of Tuscaloosa's identity since it opened its doors in 1831. Built in 1829, the Gorgas House is the oldest building on the University of Alabama campus. Family heirlooms are on display at this home located on Capstone Drive.

Museum of Natural History
Housed in historic Smith Hall, the museum is the first building on campus to be built in the 20th century and one of the finest examples of Beaux-Arts architecture in the region. Visitors can experience the natural diversity of Alabama and view collections of geology, mineralogy, history and paleontology.

The Paul W. Bryant Museum
Named in memory of the legendary Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant, the museum showcases more than 100 years of Crimson Tide football, beginning with the first team in 1892. The exhibit hall is adorned with memorabilia highlighting teams, players, and coaches. It also features trophies, photos, art, videos, and interative computers. The Bryant Museum is located on campus across from Coleman Collesium.

Denny Chimes & The Alabama Football Walk of Fame
Named after former University President George Denny, the tower was constructed in 1929, and then restored in 1986. This landmark sits in the heart of the U of A campus and is home to the "Football Walk of Fame" with hand and footprints of Alabama captains through the years.

University of Alabama Department of Theatre & Dance
The University offers four large theatre shows each year, including classic dramas, comedies and musicals in addition to several small shows throughout the UA school year. For dance enthusiasts, the Dance Series features four concert series per season.

University Programs offers a number of arts and entertainment events throughout the year and lecturers from around the country are frequently hosted by the University.
